“Manufacture Yourself a Career” DVD Competition

As one of the major employers in the region SPC Ardmona believes in showcasing the broad range of career opportunities within the manufacturing industry.

SPC Ardmona wants to encourage young people to consider manufacturing as a career path and one way to achieve this was to produce a short promotional DVD designed specifically for students. And what better way to develop a DVD for young people than to invite the young people themselves to produce it? In 2007 SPC Ardmona invited all local VET Multimedia students in the Goulburn Murray Secondary Colleges to develop and produce a promotional DVD.

The challenge was to make the DVD exciting and visually interesting, focusing on the broad range of careers within the SPC Ardmona business. After viewing all the exciting entries SPC Ardmona General Manager Manufacturing, Mark Shadbolt announced Ryan Gay from Rushworth P-12 College as the winner.

The DVD has been used in a variety of ways to promote careers at SPC Ardmona; specifically at Careers Day Out , which is a career expo for Year 10 students from across the Goulburn Murray Region. www.careersconnection.org.au
